The war between adobe and apple has been waging for quiet some time now. Even if now its passive, the fact that fact that Adobe defeated Apple defeated, is a clear conclusion with proofs to back it up. In the beginning when Steve jobs wrote his open letter stating that flash was a out dated technology and that it could not be suitable for mobile devices, it was evident that Apple saw Adobe’ flash technology as a threat to its own app ecosystem. After many attempts of using html5 as a backup to beat flash and protect their ecosystem, Adobe flash has proven its worth in the mobile ecosystem. (more…)
Adobe flash player seems to be gaining some heavy momentum in android market place. In a matter of 4 days the ranking of flash player 11 has crossed over from #168 to #81 this morning to #25 at the time of writing this article from my HTC sensation.
It is now quiet clearly visible that apple had a deep fear of flash ruining its revenue if it was allowed on ios. Despite of bad names such as resource hog etc, flash is showing clear dominance in the mobile world.
Samsung and HTC both have low range devices like HTC explorer and Samsung galaxy mini 2, which even though are not Adobe certified, but can still run flash and air flawlessly out of the box.
Be sure to Check out android marketplace for the latest position of flash player.
Its just been over a week or two that HTC launched its much touted HTC Explorer in India as a revision. Before you go shop hopping to get this device for yourself (falling for the reduced price), please be warned that out of random samples that i have checked from HTC retailer , 2 /2 HTC Explorer were found to have a major manufacturing defect.
To verify whether your handset is a defective one or not follow the steps below:
1. Connect your earphones to the phone to act as a antenna
2. Turn on the Android FM application.
3. Now use the HTC options button to select speakers as our output source.
At this stage if you listen to any FM station, you will find the audio breaking and jumping. If this is your phone, you may be in for a peril at customer service. Thus its best you know about it prior to purchase. It is very much possible that the defect was known in prior and the price was reduced to help it sell off (Just my personal opinion).
Please get your phone checked for the defect mentioned above when you are buying. If you have been a victim of publicity over newspaper or other media , you may approach consumer court in your local city to file a case as you see fit. The defect is found only in the new batch of phones (after the offer was made available).
Customer awareness in India is still quiet poor, and hence such issues creep in unnoticed. Hopefully we will get some kind of official response from HTC on this. Currently customer service had nothing to say on this. they could not refuse and neither will they accept.
I am going to buy a htc Explorer..is this problem still there? are there chances of getting a defective phone…
