Its just been over a week or two that HTC launched its much touted HTC Explorer in India as a revision. Before you go shop hopping to get this device for yourself (falling for the reduced price), please be warned that out of random samples that i have checked from HTC retailer , 2 /2 HTC Explorer were found to have a major manufacturing defect.
To verify whether your handset is a defective one or not follow the steps below:
1. Connect your earphones to the phone to act as a antenna
2. Turn on the Android FM application.
3. Now use the HTC options button to select speakers as our output source.
At this stage if you listen to any FM station, you will find the audio breaking and jumping. If this is your phone, you may be in for a peril at customer service. Thus its best you know about it prior to purchase. It is very much possible that the defect was known in prior and the price was reduced to help it sell off (Just my personal opinion).
Please get your phone checked for the defect mentioned above when you are buying. If you have been a victim of publicity over newspaper or other media , you may approach consumer court in your local city to file a case as you see fit. The defect is found only in the new batch of phones (after the offer was made available).
Customer awareness in India is still quiet poor, and hence such issues creep in unnoticed. Hopefully we will get some kind of official response from HTC on this. Currently customer service had nothing to say on this. they could not refuse and neither will they accept.
