There is a new kid on the block for watching and downloading movies on android platform and the name is BLIFF. Bliff scrapes the web for movie info links and video links. It then organizes it in a smart way to let users access them like a regular movie app. Bliff hosts nothing on the server. All content are scraped from popular video hosting sites. Biff has a internal scraper which can fetch video from most of the popular servers in the world. As backup it also has support for Hubi (streaming and download) application.

Flashvisions launches new extension for adobe air on android – ImageEncoder.
ImageEncoder can encode BitmapData directly into png or jpeg and save on storage media. Unlike issues of encoding and saving images in pure as3 based air apps, this native extension prevents jerks and execution blocks, making the encoding smooth and fast. (more…)

Very happy to announce that compose has finally made it to a major version and is ready for day to day use. Its one of a kind multi-touch enabled greetings maker. Unlike usual greetings apps on android, this application used vectors instead of png files which brings stunning quality to your e-cards no matter how you scale or rotate objects. (more…)

Just this week end i have been curious as to what video streaming applications on google play are deployed using adobe air. Although a simple Google search was not useful, i decided to hunt some of them down manually. However narrowing down some of the apps it was still not clear if all of the streaming apps were done in Adobe air or not.
Finally i did find some apps that i was sure were made in AIR, and furthermore i found a common factor in all those apps. They all seem to carry bad user ratings. Dont know why it is so but its true. Almost all video streaming apps on google play done using AIR are burdened by user complains.Most of them say app does not work, blank screen , crashes etc.
Here is a brief list of my observation:
|Application||Made in AIR||User ratings|
|blogTV Broadcast||Not SURE||3/5|
Well i am not sure but to me it looks like all video apps powered bt AIR seem to be bringing them a bad name. But then that’s what i think. Today after more than 2 years of adobe air on android i am still to see some proof of stability and performance when it comes to Adobe AIR. If you have something to say please comment below and let your voice be heard. In the past year ever since the abandoning of flex the community seems dormant. My doubt still remains on whether Adobe air is a usable solution for a video streaming business or not.
