Creating a Fifa 2010 Country Selector In Flash Lite
Flash Lite is undoubtedly a feature rich multimedia platform mobile application development. However one thing that still lacks is the support for mobile friendly component architecture naively from Adobe. However all is not lost because Sony Ericsson and Nokia provide some cool components to save the day. With the proper tool-set Flash Lite is just as powerful as Flex / Flash on desktop.
Today we will be looking at how to build a selection list using Single-row list component from Sony Ericsson. This list will demonstrate populating the list of the FIFA 2010 countries and then selecting one from the list using the 4-way/2-way navigation keys. For the purpose of this walk-through you need to have downloaded the component set provided by Sony Ericsson, available as a mxp package for you Flash IDE. You can then install the .mxp package using Adobe Extension Manager. See the image below.
Download the project files here: Fla (Flash Lite  list demo) (includes the ListSingleRow Component)
At the time of writing this tutorial walk-through, the Sony Ericsson developer’s site was down,so you may access the required component set here: SonyEricsson Components Beta.
Once you have installed the .mxp package you are ready to start using the cool set of UI components.
Step 1: Open Device central and select to create a Flash type document.
Step 2:  Select a generic Flash Lite document template to start with. for our walk-through we will select the following settings:
- Device : Flash Lite 2.0 32 240 x 320
- Player version : Flash Lite 2.0
- ActionScript version: ActionScript 2.0
- Content Type : Standalone Player
Once you are ready, press “Create” to open up Flash IDE.
